By signing the ''Tripartite Pact'' on September 27, 1940, war became a fact for the empire. Together with Italy, this country would face a long war. Ultimately, the country was forced to surrender to the U.S. after the use of two atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.
